Safal Steel (Pty) Ltd is proudly based in South Africa, serving the greater SADC region with world class coated steel. The steel is recognised worldwide for its superior coating technology which extends the service life in all roofing, cladding and construction applications.
At the Safal Steel Coating Mill in KZN, steel is coated in a metallic alloy of Aluminium and Zinc which is more widely used worldwide than any other coating to deliver longer service life to the underlying steel core. Safal Steel is the only producer of Aluminium-Zinc coated steel coil in Southern Africa, supplying local, regional, and global markets.
Its metal coated steel is sold as Zincal®. Colour coated Zincal® is sold as Colorplus® or Optima®.
Safal Steel’s colour coated steel offers the widest aesthetic range in Africa: technically sophisticated finishes are applied to the Zincal base, with the colour baked on in factory-controlled conditions to provide lasting beauty and freshness.
Colorplus® is available in standard gloss finish as well as a sophisticated Matt finish, or earthy looking Textured finish.
Innovation ensures Top Performance of its Products in challenging African conditions:
• Safal Steel is one of the very few coated steel manufacturers worldwide to produce a metal coating in 200-micron thickness. The coating depth provides exceptional corrosion resistance allowing it to be used within 100 - 400 metres of breaking surf or water, and for extreme industrial applications which could not otherwise use coated steel. The material also has world-leading “formability” which ensures a crisp clean profile for the cladding –ensuring lasting investment value.
- In collaboration with European experts, Safal Steel’s colour coatings are developed and locally tested to withstand the high UV / Radiation / Humidity we experience in Southern Africa. At the top of the spec, PVDF (Polyvinylidene fluoride) paint systems withstand extreme corrosive onslaught, even fumes in fertilizer plants --- another first for SA.
Its products are ideally suited for Southern African climates and adhere to stringent quality parameters. Specialist colour coatings have been produced to perform in most environmental conditions in Southern Africa.
As a local manufacturer, it is also contributing new skills and employment to the country, and has a robust corporate social responsibility programme focussed on local community development within the region in which it operates.
Safal Steel is a member of the Safal Group, the largest steel roofing producer in Africa, and a leader in developing new products, both metallic and colour coated, for our African conditions.
